N.H. House Committee Budget Vote Today

Concord, New Hampshire - April 1, 2009

The New Hampshire House Finance Committee is still hashing out the state's $11 billion, two-year budget. Late last night, they voted against adding $83 million for school construction aid. They also voted to spare 20 prison guards from being laid off by cutting the Corrections Department's overtime budget to pay their salaries. The layoffs are a result of the budget's plan to close the Laconia prison.

A final committee vote is expected today.
