Lebanon, New Hampshire - April 8, 2009
It looks like the New Hampshire Board of Education will allow Lebanon's ailing middle school to stay open another year.
The state had expressed serious safety concerns about the school and threatened to close it this June if repairs were not made.
However, district superintendent Mike Harris met with members of the board Wednesday. Harris says he is confident the school will be allowed to stay open another year.
"We were able to list a number of corrections that we have implemented over the course of the year including the completion of the full sprinkler system, the bleachers have now been repaired, the general housekeeping aspect tasks throughout the building," Harris said.
Harris will meet with the State Board of Education again next month when the decision will likely be finalized.
