Mt. Jefferson, New Hampshire - May 10, 2009
Three hikers are safe after getting caught in Saturday's severe storm in the White Mountains.
Officials say the Massachusetts women -- all in their mid-40s -- planned to hike to the summit of Mount Jefferson Saturday, but were turned back by the storm and had trouble re-crossing a rain swollen river.
One of the hikers called for help around 8 p.m. and rescuers helped them down shortly after midnight. Officials say the women had good clothing, but neglected to bring headlamps.
