South Burlington, Vermont - May 29, 2009
Officials at Burlington International Airport are heading to Montreal next week to try and convince airlines to create routes to Burlington.
This expansion effort comes as AirTran plans to scale back service to Vermont in September. Airport officials say they're focusing on five airlines besides AirTrain, who they're trying to convince to stay. American Eagle, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest and U.S. Airways will all be courted by BTV officials in 20-minute "speed dating" sales pitches. Even though airlines are struggling right now, officials expect them to expand again once the economy starts bouncing back.
