CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) - A Claremont, N.H., man whose arrest last summer led to his father being shot to death by police has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Police went to 53-year-old Anthony Jarvis' home last July looking for his son, Jesse, who was wanted for stealing a flag and resisting arrest. Anthony Jarvis was shot to death after shooting a state trooper in the leg.
The Valley News says Jesse Jarvis pleaded guilty last week to simple assault, resisting arrest and giving a fake name to police. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped a charge of receiving stolen property. He could have faced 45 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
The attorney general's office is expected to release its final report on the shooting this summer.
