Volunteers in Richmond hope castoffs will create opportunity in the developing world.
The Vermont Haiti Project is collecting donated clothing, bicycles and households goods like tools and sewing machines.
Organizers say such things help support entrepreneurship in the impoverished country. They hope people doing their spring cleaning will donate to their cause. Donors have already filled two trucks and are on their way to filling a third.
"I think what it does is it creates connections for people and opens up our lives in a way that's very enriching. life in haiti is so poor and they struggle so much but their life is so rich in ways our culture is, i think, poor in some ways," said Kimball Butler with the Vermont Haiti Project.
If you'd like to donate, you can contact the organizers. There is a link above.
