CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - State Rep. David Boutin has filed his candidacy papers for New Hampshire's District 16 Senate seat.
Boutin, of Hooksett, says he's running for the seat that he expects fellow Republican Sen. Ted Gatsas to resign. Gatsas has said he will leave the Senate if he wins his campaign for mayor of Manchester in November.
Boutin says the House and Senate have passed budgets that are fiscally irresponsible and increase spending.
District 16 covers Hooksett, Bow, Candia and Durnbarton and part of Manchester.
Boutin has been in the New Hampshire House for seven years and was just elected to the Hooksett town council.
