A Vermont car dealership targeted for closure has been spared.
Wells River Chevrolet announced Tuesday that General Motors has agreed to continue its franchise. GM had informed the company last month that it was one of the hundreds of dealerships across the country that would be closed as part of bankruptcy restructuring.
GM officials have reconsidered, telling the owners of Wells River Chevrolet that the franchise is part of the company's new plan for the Vermont-New Hampshire area.
GM has not released an official list of dealerships that are losing franchises. So far we know of two other Vermont dealers that have been targeted.
