Shelburne, Vermont - June 24, 2009
A large affordable housing complex in Shelburne has gotten the go-ahead.
A developer wants to build at least 100 housing units in the old Shelburnewood trailer park.
Tuesday night, the town's select board voted in favor of two key funding pieces that had the power to make or break the project. The first was endorsing a $1 million Community Development Block Grant. They'll also request a Vermont Neighborhood designation for the Village Center district. The designation controls sprawl by cutting permitting costs for developers who build in the heart of town.
