Hung Jury in Sex Assault Trial

Burlington, Vermont - June 24, 2009

After three days of deliberations, a sex assault trial in Burlington ended in a hung jury Wednesday.

Stacey Parnitzke, 42, and her husband Shane Casey were accused of arranging sexual encounters between men and a pre-teen girl.

They claim the girl invented the entire story. Their lawyers presented evidence that the girl has never had sexual intercourse.

Jurors deliberated for more than 17 hours over three days but could not reach a verdict, so the judge declared a mistrial.
