Guilty Plea in Drunken Hit-and-Run

Barre, Vermont - June 24, 2009

A Washington County man has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with killing his stepson in a drunken hit-and-run crash.

William Luther, 50, of Cabot, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident with death resulting and no contest to gross negligent operation with death resulting. He will serve three to 15 years in prison.

Police say Luther struck 27-year-old Jason Bear as he was walking along Route 215 in Cabot two years go. Luther tried to conceal the crime but later confessed.
