Montpelier, Vermont - July 7, 2009
Nine communities are sharing over $3 million in state grants to help create jobs in Vermont.
The biggest payouts will help fund a food processing center in Hardwick, a slaughterhouse in Westminster, a dairy processing plant in Brattleboro, and a rehab of the old Ethan Allen plant in Randolph.
Projects in Barre, Swanton, and Montpelier also received six-figure grants.
The community development block grants are awarded on a competitive basis.
Governor Douglas says all of the projects will create jobs and opportunities for Vermonters.
