BENSON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police are asking for the public's help finding a pair of runaways from Camp E-Wen-Akee in Benson.
Trooper Doug Norton says 14-year-old Jeffrey Tanner and 16-year-old Damian Gratton walked away late Tuesday from the facility for at-risk youth. Camp staff members told police the two left the camp between 11:30 p.m. and midnight Tuesday.
Gratton is 5-feet 7-inches tall and 155 pounds, with black hair, and was wearing jeans and a black hooded sweat shirt or coat when last seen. Tanner is described as 5-8, 145 pounds, with brown hair, wearing blue cargo pants and a backpack.
Karen Bonsignori, a spokeswoman for Eckerd Youth Alternatives, a Clearwater, Fla.,-based nonprofit that runs the program, wouldn't comment on the incident when contacted Wednesday, citing privacy laws.
