Burlington, Vermont - July 22, 2009

Police have arrested a man wanted for a home invasion in Burlington.

Eric Shepard, 39, is suspected of robbing an elderly couple in their Glen Road home Tuesday night. Police say the victims were able to identify Shepard because they knew him since he did landscaping for them.

Wednesday just before 6 p.m., Burlington Police were called to a report of a drunken man on Intervale Road who needed assistance. Police say that man was Eric Shepard. He was arrested without incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment. When Shepard is released, he will be sent to jail on a warrant. He's due in court Thursday morning to face charges of assault, robbery and kidnapping.

Earlier Wednesday, police raided a home in South Burlington where they suspected Shepard was hiding out. But that search came up empty.
