Burlington, Vermont - July 24, 2009

A FairPoint phone service outage has been fixed in Franklin and Grand Isle counties.

FairPoint says a broken fiber cable was repaired at around 7:30 p.m. Friday. The company says a contractor broke the line in Milton at around 2:30 p.m.

Long distance, 911 service and DSL were interrupted for about five hours, but FairPoint says everything is back to normal now.
