Jailed Jeffersonville man faces new charges

Associated Press - July 28, 2009 12:25 PM ET

JEFFERSONVILLE, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man jailed on a sexual assault charge is accused of writing and phoning friends in an attempt to make plans to intimidate the victim so he could avoid the charge.

Police say among the contacts 27-year-old Zachary Dalley made were to a New York City man, asking him to come to Vermont and "take care of" the victim. Police say Dalley also made plans of avoiding prosecution by fleeing the state if he is released from jail.

Dalley was charged with obstruction of justice and was to be arraigned Tuesday.
