WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) - An accused arsonist who claimed multiple personality disorder after being charged in a pair of 2006 fires is expected to change her plea Wednesday.
Cheryle D. Potwin, of Sharon, has pleaded not guilty to arson and burglary charges and planned to use an insanity defense at her trial. But a change-of-plea hearing is now set for Wednesday in Windsor District Court in White River Junction.
Potwin's attorney, Kevin Griffin, didn't immediately return a call seeking comment on the plea change Tuesday.
In pre-trial motions, experts testified that Potwin has nine or 10 personalities, including a 9-year-old boy, an adult woman and someone she refers to as "Blackie Rage," whom the others blame for the fires in Hartland and Woodstock.
