WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) - A Waterbury, Vt., man is accused of trying to light a bartender's truck on fire after he was refused a drink.
William Keliher, 59, pleaded innocent to misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree arson, domestic assault and resisting arrest in Vermont District Court in Barre on Wednesday.
A police officer responded to Keliher's home Tuesday night for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman, who was the victim in the alleged assault, told police that Keliher had been drinking and had tried to go to "the Legion" after he ran out of liquor.
The Barre Montpelier Times Argus reports once the bartender denied him service, Keliher lit a fire under the bartender's truck, but the woman put it out.
