BEECHER FALLS, Vt. (AP) - Officials in Vermont and New Hampshire are praising a decision by the U.S. Labor Department to give extra help to workers losing their jobs at the Ethan Allen furniture plant in Beecher Falls.
About 250 laid-off workers from Vermont and New Hampshire will get trade adjustment help that could make them eligible for training, job search and relocation allowances, income support and other services.
Ethan Allen was a major employer in the region where Vermont, New Hampshire and Quebec meet.
Vermont's congressional delegation says the assistance is critical to helping the displaced workers.
New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch says he will continue to work to ensure that people laid off from the Ethan Allen plant get the help they need finding new jobs.
