WEST BARNET, VT - Former University of Vermont basketball standout Taylor Coppenrath has signed with the Melilla Balencesto professional basketball team of Melilla, Spain. The West Barnet native played the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons with the Lucentum Alicante team of Spain where he averaged 10.6 pts and 4.5 rebounds per game and helped the team win the LEB Gold Division Championship and move into the ACB Division, the division from which the Euroleague teams are selected.
Melilla is a Spanish city in northern Africa located on the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded on land by Morroco. Melilla plays in the LEB Gold Division and came in third last year. Coppenrath has played professionally in Greece, Italy and Spain. He reports for preseason training camp early next week.
