
Montpelier, Vermont - August 24, 2009
Vermont's unemployment rate declined by a half percentage point last month -- the biggest drop of any state in the nation.
Vermont's jobless rate fell from 7.3 , to 6.8 percent. That compares to the national rate of 9.4 percent.
Unemployment rates for Vermont's 17 labor market areas ranged from 3.7 percent in Hartford to 9 percent in Rutland.
