Rash of Burglaries in Mad River Valley

Middlesex, Vermont - August 25, 2009

Vermont State Police are investigating a rash of burglaries over the weekend in the Mad River Valley.

State Police say nine burglaries were reported at local businesses in Waitsfield and Warren. The reported break-ins took place between 11:00 p.m. on Saturday and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday. The majority of the targeted businesses are in the Village Sqare Mall and the Mad River Green on Route 100 in Waitsfield. In all, several thousand dollars in cash and coin was taken. None of the businesses that were hit had alarm systems.

Police also say they are investigating a series of 15 car larcenies in Duxbury, Waterbury, and Moretown that took place on August 19. Cash was stolen in those incidents, but police are not sure the larcenies are related to the burglaries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Central Vermont Crimestoppers at 1-800-529-9998.
