Police: Dangerous Driver Put Baby at Risk

Brattleboro, Vermont - August 26, 2009

Two people are facing multiple charges for an alleged dangerous drive in Dummerston yesterday afternoon.

Vermont State Police say they stopped a car going 94 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 91. They say the driver, 20-year-old Alex Smith of Bellows Falls, was driving with a suspended license and had his 6-week-old infant in the back seat. He now faces charges for the suspended license, endangering a child under 10 and violation of conditions of release. Smith's passenger, 23-year-old Rebecca Goodnow of Vernon, was charged with drug possession after police say they found numerous regulated prescription narcotics.
