BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont woman involved in a car crash that resulted in a pregnant woman losing her twin fetuses has pleaded not guilty to a parole violation charge stemming from the accident.

Police say on Aug. 10, 22-year-old Kelly Cook crossed the center line on a Bennington road when she struck a minivan being driven by Patricia Blair, who was pregnant.

The Bennington Banner reports Cook was placed on probation after pleading guilty in 2007 to taking $80 from a register and tip jar from a beauty salon. She received up to a three-month suspended sentence.

Police said Cook admitted after the accident to taking Clonazepan, used for panic and convulsive disorders, which she doesn't have a prescription for. Part of her probation conditions were that she not take medication not prescribed by a doctor.
