Possible Change of Plea in Fatal Hunting Accident

Burlington, Vermont - September 2, 2009

A Georgia man charged with manslaughter for shooting his hunting companion may end up taking a plea bargain.

Thirty-nine-year-old Timothy Madden is awaiting trial for shooting his best friend David Jenkins while the pair were deer hunting in Milton. He's set to go to trial in October, but court papers show a change of plea hearing will be held Friday.

Madden rejected an initial plea deal in June, but now his lawyer and the Chittenden County State's Attorney say it looks like a plea deal is in the works. If one can't be reached and Madden is convicted he could spend up to 15 years in prison.
