BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont volunteer firefighter has pleaded not guilty to charges that he had sex with a girl under 13 and is being held without bail.
Rusty Brooks, 34, of North Bennington, has been charged with three counts of sexual assault. He is a member of the White Creek, N.Y., Fire Company and at one time was an assistant chief of the North Bennington Fire Department.
The Bennington Banner reports a police affidavit says the Department of Children and Families was contacted by the girl's aunt, saying the child had been sexually abused since she was 10. The girl spoke to authorities.
Brooks denied the allegations.
