Former Town Clerk Admits to Embezzlement

St. Albans, Vermont - September 3, 2009

The former town clerk and treasurer in Isle La Motte pleaded guilty Thursday to embezzling money.

Prosecutors say Suzanne LaBombard took at least $100,000 of town money for personal expenses.

Her father-- who was a member of the select board-- later repaid the town $150,000.

The plea deal calls for Suzanne LaBombard to serve 30 days to a year in prison and pay $100,000 in restitution. She will be formally sentenced in November.
