Plea Deal Falls Apart in Fatal Hunting Accident

Burlington, Vermont - September 4, 2009

A plea deal has fallen apart for a Georgia, Vt., man charged with manslaughter for a hunting accident.

Thirty-nine-year-old Timothy Madden has been awaiting trial for shooting his best friend David Jenkins while the pair were deer hunting in Milton in 2007. He was scheduled to change his plea this morning, but prosecutors say the deal fell through. They're now asking that the trial start in October. Madden rejected an initial plea deal in June that would have required him to spend a year in jail. Now if he's convicted Madden could spend up to 15 years in prison.
