BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A 42-year-old western New York man was sentenced to 52 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution for scamming the U.S. Postal Service out of $350,000 in postage.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Gretchen Wylegala said William Toth of Elma operated a mailing service called NETEX. He devised a scheme to send packages through the U.S. Mail without paying the full postage due.
Toth pleaded guilty to three felony charges, including postal fraud, money laundering, and filing a false tax return that overstated the amount he actually paid for postage in his business.
