Piracy Suspect Appears in Court

New York City - September 17, 2009

The Somali teen accused of leading a pirate attack on the Maersk Alabama appeared in court in New York Thursday.

Abdiwali Abdiqadir Muse has denied piracy charges. Prosecutors say he led a band of pirates that boarded the ship off the Somali coast and held Captain Richard Phillips of Underhill hostage. Muse could face up to life in prison.
