New Charges in Animal Cruelty Case

Rutland, Vermont - September 21, 2009

A Vermont woman who pleaded guilty to animal cruelty now faces new charges.

Investigators say Suzanne Hegarty had several animals on her property in Brandon last month, including horses and cats, despite a court order banning her from caring for animals.

Authorities removed more than 100 animals from the property earlier this year and Hegarty got an 8-year deferred sentence.
