Burlington, Vermont - September 29, 2009
A Vermont man will spend 40 years behind bars for a 2003 rape and burglary in Indiana.
Court papers say 25-year-old Jeffrey Garum Cameron of West Hartford forced his way into the victim's home in Dyer, carrying a rifle and a hatchet. He reportedly bound her, stole her ATM card and tried to withdraw money. When he failed to do so, Cameron then returned and raped the woman, who did not know him.
Cameron was charged in May of last year after the National DNA database linked him to the crime. Cameron is a convicted offender in Utah.
