Plattsburgh City Police have identified the man who was killed by a train Thursday night as Casey Campbell, 23, of Plattsburgh.
Police say Canadian Pacific Railway workers spotted Campbell on the tracks and tried to stop the southbound train. But Campbell was struck and killed near the Margaret Street railroad crossing.
Witnesses told police that Campbell ran toward the train and dove under it as it was about to overtake him.
Police say the investigation is still underway.
