RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced a Delaware man to three years, five months in prison for a Feb. 21, 2008 bank robbery in Poultney.
Authorities say 23-year-old Joshua Swinger entered the Citizens Bank branch in Poultney with a concealed BB gun, threatened a teller and demanded cash. He fled with $2,298.
Later that day, Swinger was stopped for speeding and an unsafe lane change in New Jersey, where he was questioned and admitted to the Vermont robbery.
Following Swinger's guilty plea in U.S. District Court in Rutland, Judge Garvan Murtha gave him the sentence and also ordered that he serve two years' supervised release after his prison term and pay restitution.
