Washington, D.C. - October 10, 2009

President Obama officially nominated Vermont Judge Christina Reiss to fill a seat on the federal bench.

Reiss was recommended by Senator Patrick Leahy, and if confirmed by the full Senate, she would become the first woman to serve on the federal bench in Vermont.

Reiss would replace J. Garvan Murtha who is retiring.
