Complete cell service is coming to the Adirondacks.
T-Mobile will build two new cell phone towers that will bring service to the last remaining black zone on the Adirondack Northway. The towers will cover the stretch of Interstate 87 between North Hudson and Elizabethtown. Most importantly it will bring service to the currently uncovered 40-mile stretch between Pottersville and Peru.
In January, 2007, a Brooklyn man crashed and froze to death in North Hudson because he couldn't get cell service to call for help.
The towers will be built to look like trees to blend into the forest.
