SCHROEPPEL, N.Y. (AP) - An intruder has been shot and killed during an apparent burglary attempt in upstate New York.
The incident happened Saturday in the town of Schroeppel near Syracuse.
Oswego County sheriff's officials said 39-year-old Timothy Hartigan was killed after Deanna Candee and her son Adam Candee came home and found an intruder.
The sheriff's officials said that during the struggle that ensued, the 48-year-old Deanna Candee got her pistol and shot Hartigan once.
Hartigan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deanna Candee and her 25-year-old son were both injured during the fight.
