Bellows Falls Bookkeeper Accused of Embezzlement

Bellows Falls, Vermont - October 20, 2009

A bookkeeper in Bellows Falls is accused of embezzling $700,000 from her employer.

Julie Garrow, 44, of Langdon, N.H., is charged with bank fraud. Prosecutors say she was hired at Vermont Graphics in 1994 and began embezzling money right away by forging names on checks.

The alleged scheme wasn't detected until last year when the owner became suspicious of his financial losses. Before the scheme was discovered, the company even had to lay off five employees, including Garrow's husband.
