Sheriff: Attempted Kidnapping Suspect Chose Random Victim

Johnson, Vermont - October 21, 2009

The Lamoille County Sheriff's office says an attempted kidnapping at Johnson State College was a random act.

Monday night, a female student was grabbed from behind and hit on the head as she was walking to campus. The victim screamed to a passing car and the suspect took off.

Police arrested Jimmie Emerson, 18, of Johnson. He is not a student at the school. Emerson is charged with attempted kidnapping.
