Change of Plea Expected in Michael Christmas Trial

Bennington, Vermont - October 28, 2009

A Vermont man facing murder and sexual assault charges will reportedly take a plea deal.

Forty-two-year-old Michael Christmas is charged with first-degree murder for shooting his former brother-in-law Ronald Wilkins in Shaftsbury. He is also charged with multiple counts of sexual assault of children.

The Bennington County prosecutor says, under the plea agreement, Christmas would plead guilty to second-degree murder and three counts of sexual assault and the state would seek a minimum of 35 years in prison.

A change of plea hearing is set for November 6.
