Senator Patrick Leahy is working to reduce fraud in the health care system. Medicaid and Medicare fraud costs patients, insurers and the government billions of dollars every year. Leahy today introduced a bill that would increase jail time for health care fraud.
"To stop the drain on our health care system caused by these types of frauds we have to make anti-fraud enforcement stronger and more effective. Lots been done, more can be done," says Leahy.
More initiatives to crack down on fraud will likely be part of the health care reform package making its way through Congress.
