Burlington, Vermont - October 30, 2009
Burlington police captured a fugitive after a wild foot chase through the city's old north end.
The chase ended with 35-year-old Germaine Holder arrested and cuffed. Holder reportedly ignored orders to surrender -- so police used tasers and pepper spray to subdue him. He suffered minor cuts to his head. Holder became a fugitive this week when he failed to show up in court for the armed robbery of a gas station in Williston in April. An anonymous tip led police to Holder this morning.
"The foot pursuit took place in the Old North End on a variety of streets over a period of about ten minutes. Officers were able to apprehend the subject in a backyard. The chase went over many fences and into many people's yards, on the streets and sidewalks," said Burlington Police Lt. Jennifer Morrison.
Holder had been out of prison only a few weeks when he was arrested in April for the armed robbery in Williston. He faces up to 30 years behind bars.
