More Guardsmen Leave for Training

South Burlington, Vermont - October 31, 2009

Another 600 Vermont Army National Guard members departed for training Saturday.

They followed a first group of 600 who left on Friday. All of the troops will get advanced combat training at Fort Polk in Louisiana, and then head to another base in Indiana for more.

John Tracy is a Vietnam veteran, and says he's nervous his son is among those headed to Afghanistan.

"I think we all as parents would hope that a war could skip a generation. But circumstances being what they are, here we are. I'm proud of what he's doing, his mother and I are. We have a lot of confidence in the leadership," said Tracy.
