Police release ID of NY man killed on Halloween

HERKIMER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of the 47-year-old man who died after being struck by a car while trick-or-treating with his son in a Mohawk Valley community on Halloween night.

State police say Preston Scott was walking on a street in the town of Herkimer, 58 miles east of Syracuse, when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Utica woman.

Family members said Scott was taking his 8-year-old son trick-or-treating when the accident occurred around 6:50 p.m. The relatives said Scott had moved to Herkimer from Utica earlier thi syear to be closer to his son.

The boy wasn't injured.

Trooper say they don't expect any charged to be filed against the driver.
