ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - The Rochester City School district gets high marks for renewable energy use.
The district is listed third on the Environmental Protection Agency's list of the top 20 schools nationwide using power from renewable sources.
Green power is generated from renewable resources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, biogas, and low-impact hydropower.
The EPA says 18 percent of electricity used in the City School District is powered by wind turbines.
The top school district on the list, Austin Independent School District in Texas, runs on 39 percent green power, from biogas and wind turbines.
