Confirmation hearings begin today to place Vermont Judge Christina Reiss on the federal bench.
Last month President Obama officially nominated Reiss to serve on the U.S. District Court for Vermont. The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy. will review the nomination today.
Reiss is expected to win confirmation from the full Senate and would become the first woman to serve on the federal bench in Vermont. Reiss would replace J. Garvan Murtha, who is retiring.
