
Burlington, Vermont - November 5, 2009
Over 250 Vermont communities are sending their loved ones to Afghanistan.
The Vermont National Guard released the hometowns of the 1,210 Task Force Phoenix troops who are preparing to spend at least a year overseas.
Milton and Burlington are each sending 55 soldiers, the highest number in the state. Other well-represented communities are St. Albans (54), Barre (50), Essex (44), Rutland (33) and South Burlington (30).
Smaller communities are also making large sacrifices. Swanton is sending 31 troops, along with Lyndon (28) and Northfield (28).
