Fake Cop Headed to Prison

Keene, New Hampshire - November 6, 2009

A Massachusetts man who has a history of posing as a fake cop is headed to jail again.

Joseph Baldasaro, 46, will spend the next 6 to 12 years behind bars.

Last Spring he posed as a fake cop investigating a counterfeit money scheme to bilk businesses in Chesterfield, N.H. out of $10,000. He is still facing charges in Vermont and Massachusetts.

At the time of the thefts in the Spring Baldasaro had just been released from prison after serving 12 years for posing as cop on Interstate 91. He pulled over an elderly couple and forced them to drive him from Bradford to Brattleboro. He then stole their car and money.

Baldasaro is a career criminal with more than 200 arrests.
