Former Teacher Admits Hosting Underage Drinking Party

Bennington, Vermont - November 6, 2009

A former school teacher in Bennington County has admitted that she hosted an underage drinking party.

Allyson Hoffman, 38, pleaded guilty Friday to enabling a minor to drink. She will not serve any time in jail but was given certain guidelines to avoid going to jail.

Police say in August they found eight minors drinking and smoking pot, along with evidence of cocaine and prescription drug use at Hoffman's home in Sunderland. An 18-year-old girl was hospitalized.

Hoffman was an elementary school teacher and librarian in Arlington but was dismissed earlier this year.
