MILLSFIELD, N.H. (AP) - Federal wildlife officials are offering a reward to anyone with information that helps catch the person who shot a young bald eagle in Millsfield, N.H., last month.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward of up to $2,500 under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. Tipsters can call 1-800-344-4262. State and federal officials are investigating the shooting that happened on or about Oct. 22.
Local sportsmen found the injured eagle and notified state officials. A wildlife rehabilitator is caring for the bird. It was shot with a shotgun and suffered a fractured wing and other injuries.
A veterinarian expects the wing to heal well enough for the eagle to fly again. It eventually will be released into the wild.
